If you’re experiencing tooth pain, it may be the result of infected pulp — the soft tissue inside the tooth. Infections usually come about after an injury or because of severe, deep decay. Whatever the reason may be, tooth pain can often be hard to deal with. With root canal treatment, we can remove the infected or decaying tissue from inside the tooth and get you back to being pain-free.
Root canal treatments typically only take two visits. The first visit will be dedicated to removing the infection. This process is relatively painless, as our dentists will use a local anesthetic to numb the tooth and the surrounding area. Oral sedation and laughing gas are also available. Once you are comfortable, the dentist will make an opening on top of the tooth to access the inside. The infected tissue will be removed, and the area will be cleaned. A medical-grade filling material will be used to fill the empty space in the tooth. At your next visit, the tooth will be covered with a dental crown to protect the structure.
